Is it time to update your headshot?

Chances are, yes! Lets Explore a few ideas.

A GOOD HEADSHOT MAKES THE BEST FIRST IMPRESSION

Your headshot is more than just a photograph; it's a potent tool for projecting your unique personal brand and narrating your journey. Whether your audience is potential clients or future employers, your headshot can be the key to making a memorable impact. While we recognize that appearance isn't the sole factor in your success, it's essential to realize that a compelling headshot can be the distinguishing feature that propels you above the competition. Don't underestimate the power of a captivating headshot in the corporate world – it's your opportunity to shine and leave a lasting first impression.

Can’t I just use a ‘selfie’ as my headshot? Or AI?

The rapid advancement of technology has revolutionized the world of picture-taking. It's become tempting to grab your phone and hastily capture a few snapshots of your best smile for your website or social media profiles. And if that doesn't suffice, perhaps your friend with a high-quality camera can step in and help, right?

Well, no.

While I wholeheartedly support the DIY spirit, there are certain areas where the expertise of professionals is essential. Your professional headshot falls squarely into this category. Professional headshot photographers possess a wealth of knowledge when it comes to lighting, angles, and poses that truly reflect your essence (and your brand) – a level of skill that most amateur photographers (or even yourself) cannot replicate.

And what about AI? Well, let’s be honest, it isn’t really you, is it? It may look a bit like you. But it’s often a cartoon-ish, weird, not quite right, version of you that should never be used as your professional headshot. Using an AI-generated image as your headshot can express a lack of seriousness or a lack of attention to detail. Not what you want portrayed with your first impression.

How often should I update my headshot?

That "first real job after college" headshot snapped years ago could inadvertently convey the message that you're out of touch, neglecting your personal branding, or even hiding behind the façade of youth. When clients or customers encounter the true, more mature you, they might feel as though they've been misled and begin questioning your capabilities to assist them.

Consider any significant changes you've made to your appearance. Did you undergo eye surgery and no longer wear glasses? Experience a significant weight loss or gain? Transformations in any of these areas signal that it's high time to refresh your photo.

My recommendation is to update your headshot every two years. This practice not only keeps your first impression current but also offers a valuable opportunity to rejuvenate your personal image. Stay ahead of the game and ensure that your headshot reflects the current, vibrant you – it's a small investment that yields substantial returns in building trust and credibility with your audience.

So, now that you know my thoughts on the importance of headshots and how often (and why) they should be updated, are you ready to take the next step? Still hesitant? I’ll sweeten the pot. If you schedule your headshot session during November I’ll take $50 off the session fee. Just click the button below to be taken to my online scheduler. No coupon code is needed.
